Cricket at Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022

The Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 will introduce cricket with Women’s T20 International competition. The tournament will be held between July 29 and August 8, where eight teams will participate and will be divided into two groups – four teams in each.

India, Australia, Pakistan and Barbados are clubbed in Grou A while New Zealand, South Africa, England and Sri Lanka will play each other in Group B.

PCB to challenge BCCI’s proposal to extend IPL window

The Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 will also be one of the cards of the members and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will propose the IPL window extension for two and a half months to other members. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja will propose a three-nation tournament in the meeting.

Raja had last week decided to challenge BCCI’s potential proposal to extend its cash-rich league duration to two and a half months.

“There has been no announcement or decision as yet on the IPL window being increased. I will give my views on this issue at the ICC conference,” Raja said during a media conference in Lahore on June 24.

“My point is clear: if there is any development in world cricket that means we are being short-changed, we will challenge it in a very forceful manner and put our point across strongly in the ICC,” he added.

BCCI bagged a lucrative deal of the IPL media rights for the next cycle (2023-2027) for a whopping sum of INR INR 48,390 crore for various categories of broadcasting the T20 matches.
