Former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Saba Karim has predicted the scoreline of the India tour of the South Africa Test series and said that the Virat Kohli-led side will win the series by 2-0 or 2-1.
The India National Cricket Team have never won a Test series in South Africa. So far India have played seven Test series in South Africa and have lost six and one ended in a draw.
Meanwhile, the India tour of South Africa is scheduled to begin from December 26 and India will play three Tests and three ODIs in the tour.
India will be without the services of Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja in the tour as the two experienced campaigners have been ruled out of the Test series due to an injury.
Rohit who was set to be Virat Kohli’s deputy in the Test series suffered a hamstring injury has been replaced by Priyank Panchal in the team and KL Rahul is set to take over the vice-captain’s role in the tour.
In ODI India Are Anyway A Far Superior Side – Saba Karim
Former India selector Saba Karim in a conversation with Sports Tiger, said that India have strong bench strength and they are far superior side in ODIs. He stated:
“Either 2-0 or 2-1 (in Tests). In ODI we are anyway a far superior side, It is immensely strong (bench strength) and proof of that was shown by them in Australia. We won the fourth Test without I think five or six of our regular players. That shows the kind of strength that India has got in our reserves.”
Saba Karim feels that India have a golden opportunity to win the Test series against South Africa with the experienced setup they have. He said:
” And I expect the same this time around and it is our golden opportunity for us as well have an experienced setup. Plus we have some potentially exciting youngsters who are coming through to the team. It will be an ideal combination for us to do well in South Africa.”
