Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja has spoken on the leg-spinner, Yasir Shah’s scandal that has surfaced. Reports mention that Yasir has been accused of aiding an alleged sexual assaulter who harassed a 14-year-old minor.
The FIR was filed by a couple at Islamabad’s Shalimar police station on Monday. Speaking about the accusations, Ramiz mentioned that the players are in “ambassadorial positions” and should know better.
“It is a no-brainer, Yasir is a circuit player and while we train and educate these players they are in ambassadorial positions and should know with whom and where to socialise,” Ramiz said.
“I don’t know what is the truth in this case but it is a fact that such headlines are not good for Pakistan cricket and especially at a time when there is a feel-good factor going through Pakistan Cricket now,” the PCB chief added.
The couple has claimed that they approached Yasir for help but turned them down by laughing at the incident. He also allegedly stated that he would make their lives miserable by dragging them into lawsuits off of his influence.
What the report says about Yasir Shah’s involvement
Yasir Shah reportedly gave death threats but when the girl contacted the police, “the national cricketer proposed to buy me a flat and bear my expenses for the next 18 years.”
“When I approached Yasir Shah on WhatsApp and told him about the incident, he made fun of me and said that he likes underage girls. Yasir Shah said that he was a very influential person and that he knew a high-ranking official. Yasir Shah and Farhan rape underage girls and make videos,” the report filed by the girl read.
As of now, Yasir and Farhan are absconding and haven’t been found by the police.
