Taylor Swift’s Midnights Album Decoded: All the Easter Eggs

Taylor Swift 1st found out the phrase “lavender haze,” the name of her opening track, although viewing Mad Men. As the singer recalled in an Oct. 7 Instagram video, she soon uncovered “it is really a widespread phrase used in the ‘50s where by they would just explain remaining in love.”

“Like, if you were in the lavender haze, then that meant you have been in that all-encompassing enjoy glow,” she described. “And I assumed that was definitely beautiful.” Swift extra, “I guess, theoretically, when you might be in the lavender haze, you are going to do something to stay there and not enable persons carry you down off that cloud.”

Swift went on to reference her and Joe Alwyn‘s 6-calendar year romance. “We have had to dodge bizarre rumors, tabloid stuff and we just disregard it,” she pointed out. “And so this tune is sort of about the act of ignoring that things to secure the actual stuff.”

In just one lyric on the keep track of, Swift directly references rumors about the couple’s marriage position. “All they retain asking me,” she sings, “Is if I’m gonna be your bride / The only kinda girl they see / Is a 1-night or a wife.”

Enjoyable fact: “Lavender Haze” was co-penned by Swift’s friend, actress Zoë Kravitz.
